Information on the General Data Protection Regulation

We may collect and use information from you if you are from the European Economic Area (EEA), and in this section of our Privacy Policy, we will explain exactly how and why this data is collected, and how we keep this data under protection from repetition or misuse in the wrong way.

What is the GDPR?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is an EU-wide privacy and data protection law that regulates how data of EU residents is protected by companies and enhances the control of EU residents over their personal data.

GDPR is relevant to any company operating globally and not just EU-based companies and EU residents. Our customer data is important regardless of where it is located, which is why we have implemented GDPR controls as a fundamental standard for all our operations worldwide

What is personal data?

Any identifiable individual data. The GDPR covers a wide range of information that can be used alone, or in conjunction with other parts of the information, to identify a person. Personal data extends beyond a person's name or email address. Some examples include financial information, political opinions, genetic data, biometric data, intellectual property addresses, physical address, sexual orientation and race.

Data protection principles include requirements such as:

Personal data collected should be processed in a fair, legal and transparent manner and should only be used in a manner reasonably expected by the person.
Personal data should be collected only for a specific purpose and should be used only for that purpose. Organizations must determine why they need personal data when collecting it.
Personal data should not be kept too much for their purpose.
Persons covered by the General Data Protection Act have the right to have access to their personal data. They can also request a copy of their data, update, delete, restrict or transfer their data to another organization.
Why does the GDPR matter?

The GDPR adds some new requirements regarding how companies protect the personal data of individuals they collect and process. It also increases compliance risks through increased enforcement and greater fines for violation. Other than these facts, this is simply the right thing to do. At Trademark, we strongly believe that the privacy of your data is very important and we already have strong security and privacy practices that go beyond the requirements of this new regulation.

Individual data rights - access, portability and deletion

We are committed to helping our customers meet the GDPR data rights requirements. Treadmark processes or stores all personal data of those who have been fully screened and are DPA compliant. We store all conversations and personal data for up to 6 years unless your account is deleted. In this case, we dispose of all data in accordance with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, but we will not keep it for more than 60 days.

We recognize that if you work with EU customers, you need to be able to provide them with the ability to access, update, retrieve and remove personal data. We got you! We have been set up as a self-service from the very beginning and always give us access to your data and your customers' data. Our customer support team is here to answer any questions you may have about working with API.
